DeAnna Dawn is an accomplished singer-songwriter, musician/actress who has an artistic fire inside of her that cannot be extinguished and must be shared with the world. A Georgia native, who has also lived in Los Angeles, DeAnna aspires for her name to be linked with pioneer greats Billie Holiday, Aretha Franklin, Lena Horne and Nina Simone.  Sometimes soft, melodic yet powerful voice with driving bass lines, hot guitar riffs, and smooth infectious melodies soulfully blended, you can understand why she lists some of her musical influences as Michael Jackson, The Beatles, Pat Benatar and Pink Floyd. DeAnna Dawn is definitely an entertainment force to be reckoned with and she is taking the world by storm.

I feel music in my life, running its course, its path…. through my veins, chest, and heart. Human condition: to feel pain, pleasure, to balance the tightrope ever since the Garden of Eden. I like music that is moving and sincere. Sincerity is becoming rare these days, especially in the main stream. I kinda go against the current and will take it way out there — like in jazz. Life is music. And that music encompasses your whole life: all your habits, ways you do things, how you talk and react, etc. Those things require practice too. I will be practicing my whole life! Music doesn’t stop. Neither does growing and striving to attain wisdom. Life is the train, not the station. Keep the grooves warm, cozy and truthful and good things have to come.  NOAH PINE

We will NOT be having a Mixer in SEPTEMBER due to the fact that we are putting our all and all into the LITTLE FIVE FEST ~ a food & beverage booth in the vending area behind the STAR BAR and SEVANANDA’S ARTIST ALLIANCE MUSIC SHOWCASE at the FIVE SPOT. See EVENTS page for more info and click below to see event poster…

AUGUST is here and our AUGUST MEMBER MIXER will be held THURSDAY, AUGUST 30TH at THE NEIGHBORHOOD GALLERY, 1963 Hosea Williams Blvd, #R104A, Atlanta 30317.  This is a lovely space full of beautiful artwork and a place where SEVANANDA can really shine. We will have food, drink and entertainment by Jazz vocalist, NAJUMA MULEFU and the Rock/Soul of FANEZA IZABELLA & LARRY. Click on their names to check their music!!

In December of 1989, after moving from Chicago to Atlanta with her children she was given the African name Najuma Wambul Chinyere (she who abounds in joy/singer of songs/God is the giver). She would marry Barake Mulefu, an accomplished cultural drummer and producer, who nurtures her dreams.  Najuma is inspired by and has crossed paths with divas like Phyllis Hyman, Minnie Ripperton, Whitney Houston, and songbird Nancy Wilson. For the last 10 years, she has studied traditional West African Dance with master dancers from Senegal Guinea and other West African countries, blending her vocals with dance. Her song repertoire spans jazz, reggae, and African culture and touches your mind, body and soul. She has performed at the Atlanta Jazz Festival where she opened for Dee Dee Bridgewater and Cassandra Wilson and was the featured singer for Ballethnic Dance Company’s “Epiphany” production. She has also graced the stage at the National Black Arts Festival, the Sunset Jazz Festival and performed at the famous Fox Theater, Underground Atlanta and Royal Peacock in Atlanta.

Larry and Faneza have been performing on the Atlanta music scene for over 8 years. Having spent most of their childhoods honing their musical skills (Larry’s vocals, and Faneza’s guitar skills), Larry and Faneza met at an open jam one night, and decided to team up and hit the Atlanta music scene. When not performing with their full band called Stereotype, Larry and Faneza perform as a duo in clubs around the Southeast.  Their sound has been described as rock and soul as they perform popular hits, as well as original compositions that leave the audience groovin’.  With Larry’s powerful voice, and Faneza’s smooth guitar, it makes them a duo you don’t want to miss.

We will also have conscious poetry by Sevananda’s own STEPHEN WING! Check his work at www.stephenwing.com/earth-poetry.
