Outreach Program

What does Sevananda do for the community?

Sevananda’s Outreach is an activity of providing information and healthy food to any populations who might not otherwise have access to these services. Sevananda prides itself on its involvement with or activity in the community, especially in the context of social welfare. Outreach is defined as reaching out to others, or becoming involved in a community or effort. We are responsible for cultivating strategic partnerships through community outreach activities. This includes developing sponsorship/business arrangements and relationships with businesses, individuals, schools and other organizations interested in supporting the community.

A key component of Sevananda’s outreach is the educational component. Also the fact that we bring the “real” health food to the Health Fairs is vital. Most of the time there is very unhealthy food at the Fairs. It’s almost as if they are actually promoting an “UN-Health Fair”. The people who attend come to get healthy and we are the ones they look to for this. Sevananda’s Outreach has an educational role, raising the awareness of the community.

By building strategic relationships, Outreach is often meant to fill in the gap in the services provided by mainstream services, and can be personally rewarding as well as a big help to our local area by providing needed resources or services. Our outreach work benefits both the recipients as well as to those who volunteer. Whether helping the dis-advantaged or supporting city-wide needs, Sevananda’s Community Outreach connects us with our city and people from different walks of life.
