Sevananda Suspends Product Policy Process cont.
Memorandum
In response to a current perception that we are proposing to change our Product Policy and begin selling meat, fish, seafood, poultry, beer and wine, we are withdrawing what may have been perceived as such a proposal.
What was presented in the July-August 2008 article entitled “Circle the items you want at Sevananda” was a draft prepared in response to a Board request for a look at what a Products and Services policy might look like, which met our Board stated priorities, as found in the Ends statement and Mission statement. It should in no way have been taken as a live Proposal or Desired Outcome. There are many potential ways to meet those board stated priorities and what appeared in the July-August Co-options and identified as “what we came up with” was but one example of a Products and Services policy that might achieve that result.
To reiterate, our intention was never to create controversy or an air of confrontation among our member-owners, staff, Board and community. If we inadvertently misled those we most wished to educate by making public what was in essence a draft of one possibility out of many, we apologize for doing so.
