If you’re looking for the best in whole and natural foods, vitamins and supplements, you’ve come to the right place. At Sevananda, we make it easy to find out all there is to know about the food you eat. What’s in it, and what isn’t. Where it’s from, how it’s grown, and who it’s grown by. That’s because we sell only the highest quality whole and natural foods — sourced locally and organically grown whenever possible — just as we have since 1974. And with product sourcing policies more demanding than any other stores, we fully guarantee the integrity and quality of what we sell. We call that food integrity. It’s what we live by, and what Sevananda has been all about from the beginning. Because it’s the only way we can promise you’re getting food you can trust. You can find out more about the food integrity difference at Sevananda from any of our store team members — every one of them’s more than happy to share what they know in the cause of good food. Welcome to a very different kind of market. Welcome to Sevananda!

Why I am a Member and why I love to shop at Sevananda!
By Greta Thomas, Working Member/Owner
I love to shop at Sevananda for several reasons. Sevananda is the only health food store that I am proud to call my own. I am a Member Owner and have been since 1996. The moment I enter Sevananda I feel right at home. From the greetings and the attitude of every Member of the Sevananda family who truly lives by Sevananda’s name (the joy of serving) to the delicious hot bar and the freshly prepared food, to the bulk herbs & spices, vitamins and supplements (and not to forget the bulk food items), I feel totally fulfilled!
My store has competitive prices, unique items and no matter how many times I frequent my store I am in awe at the many items that I have not yet discovered. You really need to experience this wonderful place. I recently had the privilege of becoming a working Member (which by the way anyone who is a Member Owner can easily become a working Member.)
I work in the Wellness department three hours a week and in return I get to learn, serve and educate shoppers about the many benefits of becoming a Member Owner; and as if that is not rewarding enough I also get a generous discount on all of my shopping items!
You do not need to be a Member to shop at Sevananda but with all that it offers, I do not see why you would not. As for me, one of the most important reasons I shop at Sevananda is knowing that each dollar I spend goes to support some of the small local farmers and the businesses that produce products that are in harmony with our planet. I love this place and I encourage and invite everyone to come and visit us.

8 of the World’s Healthiest Spices & Herbs You Should Be Eating
By Kerri-Ann Jennings, M.S., R.D., Associate Nutrition Editor at EatingWell Magazine
As a registered dietitian and associate nutrition editor at EatingWell Magazine, I know that herbs and spices do more than simply add flavor to food. They let you cut down on some less-healthy ingredients, such as salt, added sugars and saturated fat, and some have inherent health benefits, many of which Joyce Hendley reported on for EatingWell Magazine. Why Label Genetically Engineered Food?
In a country that labels everything from cosmetics to cleaning agents, it’s surprising that there are no laws in the U.S. requiring labeling of genetically engineered foods.

We understand that Sevananda Member Owners and shoppers care about what’s in their food, where it comes from and what’s in it. As we expand our horizons and strengthen our values, food you can believe in becomes even more important to us. We thought it would be a great idea to create a Food Integrity Committee to further our commitment to bringing you quality food sources.
Our Food Integrity Committee is a staff Member committee set up to monitor ingredient changes at the manufacturer level, keep abreast of changes in legislation with respect to food security and food safety issues, as well as provide a trusted resource to ongoing news and updates regarding our food supplies and food Sevananda carries. The committee will also work to provide special labeling of products to help take the guesswork out of your shopping experience. Labels like Fair Trade, GMO, Gluten Free, Dairy Free will become more and more prevalent as we become better at providing this service. You can also learn more about this topic on the Co-op 101 radio show which airs on our community radio station WRFG 89.3 FM every Monday from 4:30-5:00pm. Join us!

Grocery Product Feature: Uncle Eddie’s Vegan Cookies
By Shannon Lawless – Grocery Department
This month I’d like to profile one of the amazing finds on our cookie aisle: Uncle Eddie’s Vegan Cookies. I’m a bit of a vegan dessert connoisseur, and these delicious treats definitely surpass my high standards. Here at Sevananda, we carry four flavors: Oatmeal Chocolate Chip, Chocolate Chip with Walnuts, Oatmeal Raisin, and my personal favorite, Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip. They taste so yummy and have the best texture of any vegan cookie I have ever tried. They remind me of the cookies my mom and I used to make together, only they’re vegan! The non-vegans in your life will have no idea that there are no dairy products and no eggs. I should warn you, though, that Uncle Eddie’s Vegan Cookies are addictive. Try at your own risk!
